You will need boat
transportation to reach this unbridged island, home to
wild pigs and a myriad of birds. Bring your own fresh
drinking water and plenty of bug spray. There is no
electricity so don't expect to plug in your cell phone.
There are showers, picnic grounds, boat docks, nature
trails, a tram that runs cross-island, tent sites and
some very rustic cabins. Call ahead to reserve a cabin.
Camping was once allowed anywhere on the 2,225 acre
island, but today it is restricted to a specific area. |
